Our Services

Our Remedial Massage includes a range of techniques based off the assessment, the clients needs and what the client is comfortable doing.

The initial assessment with your massage therapist includes medical history, understanding daily tasks/activity, range of motion testing and postural assessment to determine where the pain or tension is stemming from and what techniques are going to be best suited for your remedial massage treatment.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a form of therapy that involves inserting thin needles into specific points in the body, known as trigger points or myofascial trigger points. The aim is to relieve pain and tension in muscles and connective tissues by stimulating the release of chemicals that reduce inflammation and promote healing. Unlike acupuncture, dry needling focuses on the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a type of therapeutic massage that targets the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues in the body. The therapist uses slow, firm strokes and deep pressure to release chronic tension and knots in the muscles, while also improving circulation and range of motion. This type of massage is often recommended for people with chronic pain, muscle tension, or injuries, and can provide relief from conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and back pain.

Soft Tissue Release (STR)

Soft tissue release (STR) is a technique used in remedial massage therapy to release tension and discomfort in the muscles and surrounding soft tissues. It is a type of manual therapy that involves the application of pressure and stretching to specific areas of the body.

During a soft tissue release session, the massage therapist will locate areas of tension and apply pressure to these areas. The combination of pressure and stretching helps to release adhesions and improve circulation, resulting in increased range of motion and decreased pain. STR can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, muscle imbalances, and injuries.

Myofascial Release

The therapist uses gentle sustained pressure and stretching techniques to help restore the natural mobility and elasticity of the fascia, which can improve circulation, reduce pain and discomfort, and improve overall movement and function.

Active Release Technique (ART)

ART is a manual therapy technique used to treat soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. It is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that combines the principles of massage, stretching, and movement to release adhesions and restore function to muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and fascia.

During an ART session, the practitioner uses their hands to locate areas of tension, restriction, and adhesions in the soft tissues. They then apply precise pressure while guiding the client through specific active movements to break up the adhesions and restore proper movement patterns.

Stretching & PNF

Passive stretching is a type of stretching where an external force, such as a therapist, partner, or gravity, is used to stretch a muscle or group of muscles. The person being stretched remains relaxed and does not actively engage the muscle being stretched.

PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching is a type of stretching that involves a combination of passive stretching and isometric contractions. The person being stretched contracts the muscle being stretched for a short period of time (usually around 6-10 seconds), then relaxes and is stretched further. This process is repeated several times, allowing the muscle to be stretched further with each repetition. PNF stretching can help improve flexibility and range of motion and is often used in rehabilitation settings.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a form of manual therapy that involves the application of pressure to specific points in the body known as trigger points. Trigger points are areas of muscle tension and pain that are caused by the buildup of metabolic waste, lack of blood flow, and other factors. During trigger point therapy, the therapist applies sustained pressure to these points in order to release the tension and alleviate pain.

Cupping

Myofascial cupping is a technique used in alternative medicine to relieve pain and tension in the muscles and fascia. It involves placing suction cups on the skin, which creates a negative pressure that lifts the underlying tissue. This suction can help to increase blood flow, release tight muscles, and improve overall mobility.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

EMS therapy, also known as electrical muscle stimulation therapy, is a technique used in massage to help improve muscle function and reduce pain. During EMS therapy, electrodes are attached to the skin or via dry needling to the affected muscles, and a small electrical current is applied. This current causes the muscles to contract and relax, which can help to increase blood flow, decrease inflammation, and reduce pain. EMS therapy can be particularly helpful for individuals with chronic pain or muscle tightness, as well as athletes or those recovering from injuries.
